LIO MALCA PRESENTS:

MARCO BRAMBILLA AT LA NAVE

SALINAS  IN IBIZA (SPAIN)

For this year's 2016 exhibition, La Nave Salinas hosts Megaplex, a dynamic show consisting of three video pieces: Civilization 2008, Evolution 2010, Creation 2012, by the Italian artist Marco Brambilla.

THE EXHIBITION

A large projection box has been installed in La Nave to simulate a theater. Upon entering, the viewer is given a pair of 3D glasses and is guided to the interior of the theatre. Once inside, the viewer is transported to a world of sensory magic.

Megaplex (Civilization2008, Evolution 2010, Creation 2012) explores video collage, sampling cinematic language in order to refine its aesthetic vision. The resulting work is a video triptych that evokes epic historical narratives inspired by the lushimagery of Breughel and Bosch.

Brambilla’s hyper-saturated altarpieces test the limits of visual overload, looping, and interweaving in ways that test the temporal parameters of the moving image. The three works discuss the language of modern cinema and pop culture while celebrating and satirizing the absurdities of Hollywood.

THE ARTIST

“I love the idea of bringing my work to  the general public, not just people who go to gallery openings.”
